Look at this timber yard. What a firm place to stand! Would you have expected a timber yard to have a floor (foundation) like that? I would not. That’s actually why I took the picture! What a joy for people to buy timber at that yard – even on a rainy day. No problem.
For some time we used to live in a house in Thailand built on stilts over water and the area in front of the house was not safe to walk on – almost!
When we bought the present dwelling the floor of the garden shed had to be replaced. It was rotting away.
ARE WE NOT ALL LOOKING FOR A FIRM PLACE TO STAND?
The psalmist (David) in the Bible says that the Lord gave him a firm place to stand. But he says more than that. Please read the beginning of Psalm 40 in the Old Testament. (Psalm 40:1-3) In verse two of of that psalm he is also talking about mud and mire. But read it for yourself!
Foundations are of uttermost importance for all of us. That’s why I love the following Bible verse so much. I have also committed the verse to memory. First Corinthians 3:11 “For no one can lay any foundation other than the one already laid, which is Jesus Christ.”
The Lord Jesus Christ is the only foundation! Is HE your foundation?
