Garden and Field

What would be your answer, if somebody would ask you this question: “Do you have children or grand-children you would love to get into serving the Lord Jesus Christ?”

My answer would be a spontaneous: “Yes!”

It was actually a puzzle for children. That’s why it did not take me long to unscramble the letters, to find the names of the garden creatures. The final answer was ‘insects’.

What a surprise to find four pages with kids projects and puzzles in the middle of the magazine called “go Gardening”. (Autumn 2009) But I was even more surprised about the advertisement on the last page of the magazine. There it says, “Do you have children or grand-children you would love to get into gardening?” “Subscribe your child to GO Gardening by mail for just $20.” “Educate the whole family about gardening now!”

What a bright idea to get children into gardening. Somebody should have subscribed me. I surely wish that I would know more about gardening.

But we would love to get our children and grand -children into the Bible, the Word of the Living God. Give them a Bible. You can buy special Bibles for children. What else can we do? Subscribe a child? Subscribe a child to a christian magazine for children? Subscribe a child to a christian magazine with a section for children? That would also educate the whole family about serving the Lord now!

Billy Graham says:

“Let your home be your parish,

you little brood your congregation,

your living room a sanctuary,

and your knee a sacred altar.”

Then the children – the next generation – will not only be good at gardening, they will also be good workers in God’s field (garden). First Corinthians 3:6-9 and Matthew 3:3-9. In First Corinthians 3:9 it says:

“For we are God’ s fellow workers; you are God’s field, God’s building.”
