The Rev. Merriwether spoke briefly, much to the delight of the audience.

The peacemaking meeting scheduled for today has been cancelled due to a conflict.

Weight Watchers will meet at 7pm at the First Presbyterian Church. Please use large double door at the side entrance.

Ladies, don’t forget the rummage sale. It’s a chance to get rid of those things not worth keeping around the house. Don’t forget your husbands.

“DON’T COUNT YOUR DAYS, MAKE YOUR DAYS COUNT.”

I wrote about that not long ago and I did that today. And Matthew 10:32,33 came to my mind.

I began to talk to the complete stranger from Belgium in the German language and we talked quite some time about biblical things.  I really liked the young man. He says he is actually still searching and his mother is actually believing what the Bible says. The father seems to be indifferent.

I don’t think that I will ever see him again. When he left I told him to think about our conversation.

The Birthday Card for Five Dollars

Bookshops (Paperplus) are very interesting – for me all the time – , especially the section where all the different cards are. I read some of the cards on display and then I remembered that I need one birthday card for a special person before this year is finished.

I bought one with a message and a challenge:

“DON’T COUNT YOUR DAYS, MAKE YOUR DAYS COUNT.”

it says on the front of the card. I like that!P1070462

How do you make your days count?  A good question and I am not only asking, I really want to know!

Here is my answer: My answer has two parts. First of all I make my days count by reading the Bible, the Word of the Living God. Secondly I make my days count by telling others about the Lord Jesus Christ. Telling others about the Lord is actually the result of reading the Bible.

In Joshua 1:8 we are admonished to meditate on the Bible day and night. That is the way to prosperity and success! In order to meditate on the book of the law we have to read it first. In Acts 17:11 it says this about the Bereans: “Now the Bereans……. examined the Scriptures every day to see if what Paul said was true.” Remember, what Paul the apostle said! We should do the same, when listening to sermons!

Those who are reading the Bible and are obedient to the teachings of the  Word of  God will tell others about the GOOD NEWS!

In Second Kings 7:9 we are reading about the “day of good news”. Please make an effort to read the whole chapter seven of Second Kings. Second Kings 7:1-20. First Chronicles 16:23  says “Sing to the Lord, all the earth; proclaim his salvation day after day.” Psalm 96:2 says almost the same “Sing to the Lord, praise his name; proclaim his salvation day after day.” I will close with Acts 17:17. The apostle Paul is in Athens on his second missionary journey and it says about him that “… he reasoned in the synagogue with the Jews and the God – fearing Greeks, as well as in the marketplace day by day with those who happened to be there.”

MARTIN LUTHER AND THE CHURCH:

Martin Luther, the reformer, was heavily involved with the church of his time. That involvement caused him lots of trouble and headache.

This is said about him:

One evening he was looking through his open window at the starry sky and saying to the Lord, “Lord, does the church belong to me or does the church belong to you? The church belongs to you! — Good Night!”
