Sent or Not Sent

SENT

Have you ever noticed how the apostle Paul begins his letters in the New Testament?

Galatians 1:1 “…. – sent …..by Jesus Christ and God the Father,…..”

First Corinthians 1:1 “…..by the will of God, …..”

Second Corinthians 1:1 “…. by the will of God, ….” Also Ephesians 1:1; Colossians 1:1;  Second Timothy 1:1.

First Timothy 1:1 “….by the command of God our Savior and of Christ….”

***********

Read also Saul’s (Paul’s) conversion. His conversion is three times related in the book of Acts: Acts 9:1-19; Acts 22:3-21; Acts 26:2-23. Also Galatians 1:11-17.

NOT SENT

Jeremiah 14:14 “Then the Lord said to me, ‘The prophets (prophets and priests: Jeremiah 23:11) are prophesying lies in my name. I have not sent them or appointed them or spoken to them.'”

Jeremiah 14:15 “….: I did not send them,…..”

Jeremiah 23:21 “I did not send these prophets, yet they have run with their message;…”

ARE YOU SENT OR ARE YOU NOT SENT?

IT IS A BLESSING TO LISTEN TO SERMONS BY PEOPLE WHO ARE SENT!

CALM, QUIET, EASE AND PEACE

That are four very important words for all of us. Are you looking for calm, quiet, ease and peace?

Listen to what I read this morning in a book written by C.H. Spurgeon: His text is Jeremiah 23:6 “THE LORD IS OUR RIGHTEOUSNESS.”

This is the first sentence in his book “Morning and Evening”: “It will always give a Christian the greatest calm, quiet, ease and peace to think of the perfect righteousness of Christ.”

Praise the LORD!

GOLDEN NUGGET

Exodus 23:25,26

“WORSHIP THE LORD YOUR GOD,

— and his blessing will be on your food

— and water.

— I will take away sickness from among you,

— and none will miscarry

— or be barren in your land.

— I will give you a full life span.” – In Psalm 90:10 we find the span of our days mentioned.

“The length of our days is seventy years – or eighty, if we have the strength; yet their span is but trouble and sorrow, for they quickly pass, and we fly away.”
