PREPARATION!

On the weekend the South Island of New Zealand was hit by a devastating 7.1 earthquake. (Christchurch and surrounding areas!)

Our Minister of Civil Defence is writing in the local paper, “PREPARATION KEY TO SURVIVING.” I am living in the north of the North Island of New Zealand and he is urging us Northlanders to think about how well prepared we are  for a natural disaster. We should have enough food and water stored away somewhere for several days. Torches and blankets must also be handy.

PREPARATION!

“Preparation is more important than the actual doing.” I read that every time when I visit a certain website. I like that.

‘The difference between adventure and disaster is preparation” – Anon

“Be Prepared” is an old motto.

Our Minister of  Civil Defence is urging us to think about how well prepared we are for a natural disaster.

The Bible, the Word of the Living God is urging us to think about how well prepared we are for the Coming of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ! Billy Graham says, “Readyness and watchfulness are all urged upon Christians, lest Christ’s coming, taking us by surprise, should find us unprepared.”

“…., for you know very well that the  day of the Lord will come like a thief  in the night.” – First Thessalonians 5:2

“……HE SET MY FEET ON A ROCK…”

“Helping children , young people and adults find their footing in tough times” I am reading on the front cover of the Skylight Shop 2010 brochure  I discovered in the local library.  Yes, we must help people find a firm footing.

On another page  is written, “SKYLIGHT is an innovative New Zealand social enterprise charity that specialises  in assisting and supporting children,….”

Where do we find a firm footing?

Where did I find a firm footing? Let me tell you.

The Bible, the Word of the Living God says in First Corinthians 3:11: “For no one can lay any foundation other than the one already laid, which is Jesus Christ.”

I am reading the Bible from cover to cover and this morning I came to Psalm 40 and please listen to what David says at the beginning of the psalm. That is also my testimony.

The Lord Jesus Christ lifted me also out of the slimy pit. He lifted me out of the mud. He lifted me out of the mire.

The Lord Jesus Christ set my feet on a rock. He gave me a firm place to stand.

THERE IS ALSO A NEW SONG IN MY MOUTH!
