What is Terminal Illness?

In a West Auckland Hospice pamphlet are a number of Frequently Asked Questions answered. One of the questions is of course “What is Hospice West Auckland? Another is “How much does Hospice Cost?”

But I am very much interested in the question WHAT IS TERMINAL ILLNESS? Listen to the answer to that question: “This is when there is no cure for the illness and the patient is expected to die. It is also referred to as Life Threatening Illness.”

Are not all of us suffering from a Terminal Illness? I think we do. The life threatening illness is called sin. In Romans 3:23 we read “…, for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,….” And in Romans 6:23 it says, “For the wages of sin is death;…”

The answer in the pamphlet to the question “What is terminal illness?” is “This is when there in no cure for the illness and the patient is expected to die.”

But for the sickness called sin there is a cure. Praise the Lord for that! Sin is “at the root of our problems”. Sin is “the disease of human nature”. Sin is the centre of our trouble. But there is a cure for the sinsick world.

In Romans 6:23 it does not only say, “For the wages of sin is death,…” But it continues, “but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.”

Remember, eternal life is a gift. All you need to do is receive it. Please do not hesitate, receive it TODAY!
