Sermon Outline – NT – NIV

“But the things that come out of the mouth come from the heart, and these make a man ‘unclean.’

Matthew 15:18, 19

For out of the heart come

1.  evil thoughts,

2.  murder,

3.  adultery,

4.  sexual immorality,

5.  theft,

6.  false testimony,

7.  slander.

These are what make a man ‘unclean’; but eating with unwashed hands does not make him ‘unclean.'”

PEACE OF MIND AGAIN!

PEACE OF MIND AGAIN!

Daisy Downs Boarding Kennels (Booking Essential) advertises in one of our local papers:

“fun for dogs

peace of mind for owners”

“Why pre-plan your funeral?” asks an advertisement in THE NEW ZEALAND HERALD. “Peace of mind – knowing your affairs are in order,” is one of the answers.

What is peace of  mind? Peace of mind is absence of mental anxiety.

Most of us have mental anxiety. Or can we say all of us have mental anxiety sometimes?

When I have mental anxiety I take my BIBLE and read Philippians 4:6,7.

Philippians is a letter written by the apostle Paul. Paul is writing to the saints in Christ Jesus at Philippi and the overseers and deacons.

Remember, the letter is written to saints. All true followers of the Lord Jesus Christ are saints. I am a true follower of the Lord and I am a saint. I know, you find that hard to believe, but nonetheless it is true!

In Philippians 4:4-6 the apostle is writing:

Do not be anxious about anything,

but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.”

And now verse seven:

“And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.”

Definition of a Christian:

“The Christian is not just a good, decent, moral man; the life of God had entered into him, there is an energy, a power, a life in him and it is that that makes him peculiarly and specifically Christian.” –  Martyn Lloyd-Jones

Opposition

“We are foolish to expect to serve God without opposition: the more zealous we are, the more sure we are to be assailed by the myrmidons of hell.” – C. H. Spurgeon
