Quote

“Let us do all that we do in remembrance of his dying love.

Every act of our life ought to be religious.

Every day ought to be a Sabbath in the sense of it being sacred and devoted to the glory of God, and

every meal we take ought to be a scrament.” – General William Booth

Forgetting, remembering and learning!

Yesterday I attended the COOPERS BEACH EASTER CAMP. And when thinking today about what I heard in the first session, a quote from Benjamin Franklin ( 1706 – 1790 ) comes to my mind. Here is the quote:

“Tell me and I forget. Teach me and I remember. Involve me and I learn.”

In the first session the speaker ROBERT SIAKIMOTU from Open Air Campaigners (OAC) did not only tell us, he taught us and he involved us.

How did he do that?

He had notes for us called “The Gospel of Jesus Christ.” (“Matthew, Mark, Luke , John”)

He made us say things again and again (also actions) to get hold of the geographical locations in the GOSPELS.

I see also that there are gaps in the workbook (notes) and those gaps must be filled in by the student. To help the student, the first letter is given.

When thinking about the quote “Tell me and I forget. Teach me and I remember. Involve me and I learn,” another occasion comes to me mind.

Long ago I was in Auckland / NZ in New Lynn. Between New Lynn Mall and McDonald’s I saw this time the director of Open Air Campaigners involved in talking to someone about the Lord (Personal Evangelism).

From what I remember he had taught people about Personal Evangelism in the classroom and now they were out on the street practicing what they had been taught.

As tool they used the questionnaire called:

“WHAT KIWIS BELIEVE”

The questionnaire has ten questions and you can read the ten questions on this blog by typing “WHAT KIWIS BELIEVE” into “Search.”

And let us never forget the quote by Benjamin Franklin:

“TELL ME AND I FORGET. TEACH ME AND I REMEMBER. INVOLVE ME AND I LEARN.”
