“To God be the Glory” is a hymn written by Fanny J. Crosby.
“Then he opened their minds so they could understand the Scriptures.”
I read that GOLDEN NUGGET not long ago in Luke 24:45, where I arrived not long ago in my reading of my Bible from cover to cover. I start every year at the beginning – Genesis 1:1. And when I say reading the Bible from cover to cover I mean reading every word.
In the IN TOUCH magazine – August 2012 – I am reading on page 16:
” … more than nine out of ten Christians and nearly as many American pulpit pastors have never read through the entirety of Scripture.”
I am glad that the Lord has opened my mind to understand the BIBLE and helped me to read it from cover to cover.
Elbert Hubbard says, “Many people fail in life, not for lack of abilities or brains, or even courage, but simply because they have never organised their energies around a goal.”
I like to read about and learn from people who have organised their energies around a goal. Let me just mention two, the apostle Paul and Peter, one of Jesus’ twelve disciples.
The apostle Paul wrote many letters of the New Testament and in one letter to the church of God in Corinth he writes, “So we make it our goal to please him, …” That means to please the Lord Jesus Christ. (Second Corinthians 5:9)
Peter is writing to Christians who lived in the northern part of Asia Minor and he says, ” … for you are receiving the goal of your faith, the salvation of your souls.” (First Peter 1:9)
“Success is not measured by what you accomplish, but by the opposition you have encountered, and the courage with which you have maintained the struggle against overwhelming odds.” – Orison Swett Marden
