The picture of the sun in one corner of the Robert Harris (Coffee Roasters) coffee card illustrates the text “the best things in life are free,” next to it. On the other side of the card it says, “Your reward: Buy eight drinks & have your ninth one free.”
SUN
In the “Book of Books” the Lord Jesus Christ teaches that God the Father “causes the sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous.” You can read that in Matthew 5:45
There are evil people and there are unrighteous people.
But listen to this promise: In the last book of the Old Testament, in Malachi 4:6 we are told about the “sun of righteousness.” “But for you, who revere my name, the sun of righteousness will rise with healing in its wings.”
The “sun of righteousness ” is the Lord Jesus Christ.
Evil, unrighteous people can be accounted righteous before God. The sinner must put on the righteousness of the Lord Jesus Christ. When the sinner does that, God sees him perfect in the righteousness of Christ.
That is actually called justification.
Righteousness is a gift. Now, how can a sinner receive this gift of righteousness?
What is the answer?
The sinner must believe on the Lord Jesus Christ as Saviour and Lord.
“THE BEST THINGS IN LIFE ARE FREE,” namely righteousness, sun, rain …
“Sonne der Gerechtigkeit, gehe auf in unserer Zeit!” That is a German hymn by Christian David, who lived from 1690 – 1751.
Here is my translation of the first verse into English:
Sun of righteousness rise in our time. Start a fire of love, that the world will take notice of it.
