People or God?
We must decide!
C.H. Spurgeon says,
“Christians often look to people for HELP and COUNSEL, and mar the noble simplicity of their reliance upon their God.”
Let us notice especially the two words HELP and COUNSEL.
1. HELP
David says, “I cried to the Lord for help.” (Psalm 18:6)
Solomon gives this advise, “For he will deliver the needy who cry out, the afflicted who have no one to help.” (Psalm 72:12)
Asaph cries, “Help us, O God our Saviour. for the glory of your name.” (Psalm 79:9)
A Psalmists whose name is not mentioned says, “We wait in hope for the LORD; he is our help and our shield.” (Psalm 33:20)
2. COUNSEL
David again says,” I will praise the LORD, who counsels me.” (Psalm 16:7)
Asaph again says, “You guide me with your counsel, …” (Psalm 73:24)
The Holy Spirit is the COUNSELER.
(John 14:16; John 14:26; John 15:26)
What is your decision?
Remember what you mar, if you don’t rely on the Lord.
