“IT PAYS TO BE PREPARED …”

AT THE BEACH

“It pays to be prepared …,” I am reading on one side of the card I picked up at The Warehouse  yesterday. On the other side it says, “Don’t cross the ditch without it!” That means don’t go to Australia without Aussie Essential travel insurance.

“It pays to be prepared.”

Not only advertisements are telling us to be prepared. The Bible tells us also to be prepared.

Here are three things for believers:

(Let us remember that the letters in the New Testament are written to believers in the Lord Jesus Christ.)

1. First Peter 1:13

Here believers are told to prepare their minds for action. Before he says that Peter is talking about our salvation. After he says that we are told to be holy.

2. First Peter 3:15

Here we are told about our hope. When people want to know about our hope, we must be prepared to tell them the reason for our hope. And that has to be done with gentleness and respect.

3. Second Timothy 4:2

Timothy is an assistant of Paul and Paul charges him to preach the Word and to be prepared to do that at any time. That includes correcting, rebuking and encouraging. And all that has to be done with great patience and careful instruction.

I don’t seem to listen carefully (maybe I should) when advertisements are telling me to be prepared, because I have never bought travel insurance in all my life, and I have travelled quite a bit  in Europe, Asia and now I am living here in New Zealand. But I am listen very carefully when the Word of God tells me to be prepared.
