In our paper I find the story about a couple and their dream home of 18 years. (The Northland Age, Thursday, March 5, 2015)
Houses in New Zealand are often built at the top of hills, because of the view you have from there.
Can you imagine the long, steep driveways (and some driveways are really steep, I have seen them) going up the hill to the garage? I don’t like that at all.
Let me also mention here high trees that are often near the houses. They are a real hazard when we have a strong storm.
Please notice the houses at the top of the hills in Paihia, not far from where the ground has been moving for years
The dream home of 18 years of the couple is built at the top of a hill. The ground has been moving there for years. There is a slow moving slip and the family has been ordered to evacuate the house.
How would you react if you would receive news like that? For the family it was a ‘bombshell’.
It would be a bombshell for me as well in spite of believing what the Lord Jesus Christ says about the many mansions in his Father’s house.
I believe in heaven. But what is heaven? In John 14:2 the Lord Jesus Christ says:
“In my Father’s house are many rooms; if it were not so, I would have told you. I am going there to prepare a place for you.”
That is of course not everything the Bible tells us about heaven. But have you ever wondered, “Why we are not told more about heaven ?”
In his book THE FINAL PERSEVERANCE OF THE SAINTS D. Martyn Lloud-Jones asks the question and gives also the answer. What is the answer?
“All language known to man, even the best, the most exalted and eloquent, would detract from the glory of heaven; it is so glorious that it is ‘unspeakable’ and to attempt to describe it would be to detract from it.”
Those who are in heaven will never be ordered to evacuate. Hallelujah.
