According to the argument, peace amongst men is only possible as they all together belong to the body of Christ and are Christians.” – D. Martyn Lloyd-Jones
POWERED BY WHAT?
I am asking myself now the question, “What am I powered by?”
On my computer it says “powered by Ask” and yesterday walking on the mainstreet here in Kaitaia, I saw two cars which had stickers starting with “Powered by …”
“Powered By MediaWiki,” I read yesterday in the evening on the screen of my computer.
Not too many days ago I received two emails telling me about the death of people. One email was from Germany and it said that a servant of the Lord I knew had gone home. Thinking about “had gone home” made me look up what I read some time ago in the book GOOD IN EVERYTHING by H. L. Gee. On page 198 he is quoting the Rev. William J. May, who said, “In a quiet churchyard in Sussex is a simple grave which bears this lovely inscription: Gone home with a friend.”
Do you know what I am actually powered by?
I AM POWERED BY THE KNOWLEDGE THAT I AM ON MY WAY HOME.
And what a power that is!
The knowledge that I am on my way home gets me through everything, really everything.
I rejoice with the hymnwriter who gave us the hymn: “Going home, going home, I’m just going home.” (William A. Fisher ed. Lindsay Smith)
