What do I stand for?
“I stand for helping out your neighbours,” it says on the placard, an elderly man is holding in his hands. The placard of a little girl standing beside her mother says, “I stand for Green Everywhere.” A man with his two boys beside him is holding the poster, “I stand for Whanau!” (Whanau is family.)
How glad I am to see the pictures with those placards in the leaflet called:
“WHAT DO WE STAND FOR?”
“Flag Consideration Project.”
There is talk again about changing the New Zealand flag. In the leaflet it says that “this is the first time in history that all New Zealanders will have a say in the design of the New Zealand Flag.”
I stand for the Lord Jesus Christ and sing with the hymnwriter George Duffield:
“Stand up, stand up for Jesus!
You soldiers of the cross;”
