EINEN HERING FUER MEIN KIND by Max Wedemeyer

EINEN HERING FUER MEIN KIND by Max Wedemeyer

EINEN HERING FUER MEIN KIND by Max Wedemeyer

Although the author is telling the stories of another family, we can be sure that he is writing about what happened to him. It is a bit of autobiography.

I have always wondered when reading autobiographies and biographies, how the writers remembered things in detail from fifty years ago.

But at last I have found a way to write my own story (autobiography) without having a bad conscience. I am not intending to do so.

Can we say that there is quite a bit of embroidery in the biographies and autobiographies we read? (Also called elaboration, embellishment and exaggeration.)

Quote Spurgeon

Heart

Heart

“Do not dirty the fingers which are soon to sweep celestial strings; do not let your eyes, which are soon to see the King in His beauty, become the windows of lust – do not let those feet, which are soon to walk the golden streets, be defiled in muddy places – do not let those hearts which are before long to be filled with heaven and to overflow with ecstatic joy, be filled with pride and bitterness.” – C. H. Spurgeon

BED, TABLE, CHAIR, AND LAMP

FOUR ESSENTIAL THINGS FOR CHRISTIAN WORKERS.

Second Kings 4:10:

“LET’S MAKE A SMALL ROOM ON THE ROOF AND PUT IN IT A BED AND A TABLE, A CHAIR AND A LAMP FOR HIM.”

Lamp

Lamp

To a pastor it was pointed out long ago “that the four things which the Shunammite woman provided for the prophet Elisha are illustrative of the four things which the worker for Christ needs.”

The four things are a bed, a table,  a chair, and a lamp. You can read that in the Old Testament in the book of Second Kings chapter four in verse ten.

1.  THE BED IS THE SYMBOL OF REST.

Matthew 11:28,29

2. THE TABLE IS THE SYMBOL OF FELLOWSHIP WITH CHRIST.

Psalm 23:5 and John 21:12

3. THE CHAIR IS THE SYMBOL OF INSTRUCTION FROM THE LORD JESUS CHRIST.

Deuteronomy 33:3 and Luke 10:39

4. THE LAMP IS THE SYMBOL OF TESTIMONY FOR CHRIST.

Matthew 5:14 and Acts 1:8

The preacher added that “these things are not only illustrative of what the Christian worker needs, but the order in which they are given is suggestive too. Rest in Christ, by being yoked with Him in the will of God, is essential, in order to have fellowship with Him, and fellowship with him is the qualification for instruction from Him, and instruction from Him is the precursor of effective testimony for Him.
