FOOD

We mark WORLD FOOD DAY on October 16.

PHYSICAL FOOD

The United Nations says that we can end world hunger.

SPIRITUAL FOOD

The BIBLE is food for the soul: Deuteronomy 8:3; Job 23:12; Psalm 119:103; Jeremiah 15:16; First Peter 2:2.

Spiritual food is prepared in abundance for the Believers. The Lord Jesus Christ is the Bread of Life.

FOOD OF THE WORLDLY SOUL

Here are some characteristics of the FOOD of the worldly soul:

It is deceitful – Proverbs 23:2,3.

It is like ashes – Isaiah 44:20.

It is unsatisfying – Isaiah 55:2.

It is husks – Luke 15:16.

It is perishable – John 6:27.

In Deuteronomy 8:3 we read “that man does not live on bread alone but on every word that comes from the mouth of the LORD.” Read also what the Lord Jesus Christ says in Matthew 4:4.

A PRAYER OF MOSES

Notes taken from, “Deine Zeugnisse – mein ewiges Erbe,” by Alfred Christlieb.

“Whenever the ark set out, Moses said, ‘Rise up O LORD! May your enemies be scattered, may your foes flee before you.'” – Numbers 10:35

FIRSTLY:

It was a busy time for MOSES whenever the ark set out. He could have said, “This is not the time to pray.” But not so Moses. Whenever the pillar of cloud appeared, whenever they started a new stage of the journey, the first thing he did was to pray.

WE must follow the example of Moses. The more we have to do the more we must pray. We think we waste time, but actually gain time by doing so, and things are not so likely to go wrong.

SECONDLY:

The prayer of MOSES is very simple. It sounds as if a child is asking the father to stand up and protect it.

WE can also pray like that as children to our heavenly Father.

THIRDLY:

MOSES is not concerned about his own enemies, but about the enemies of God and that the enemies flee from God and not from him. Notice “your enemies” and “your foes”.

WE as prayer warriors must seek the glory of God and not our own. A prayer warrior must trust the power of God and not his own.

Every new day is a new stage of our journey. Let us begin each new day by praying.
