“The thing that separates the gospel from every other teaching is that it is primarily a proclamation of God and our relationship to God.” – D. Martyn Lloyd-Jones
“BUT THE LORD SAID
Numbers 20:12
(Numbers 27:14; Deuteronomy 1:37; 3:26; 4:21; 32:51)
Intr.:
to Moses and Aaron,
TWO STAGES (Steps)
A. ‘Because you did not trust in me enough
Trusting means believing, relying and clinging (The Amplified Bible).
B. to honor me as holy in the sight of the Israelites,
Honor me as holy means to sanctify ME (The Amplified Bible).
Psalm 106:32,33
End:
you will not bring this community into the land I give them.'”
“GO THE EXTRA MILE,” I saw written at the top of a number plate when coming home today.
It speaks of service. What is service? “Service is love in work clothes,” is a definition someone sent me some time ago. I am writing this during Mental Health Awareness Week – 5-11 October 2015 – and GIVING, “Doing things for others,” I am told is one of the keys to happier living.
“‘If someone forces you to go one mile, go with him two miles,'” says the Lord Jesus Christ in the Gospel of Matthew. (Matthew 5:41)
Here we are reminded again of unlimited service.
“But the thing here demanded is a readiness to submit to unreasonable demands of whatever kind, …” explains the Commentary on the whole Bible (Regency Reference Library).
Business people realising that it is profitable to “Go the extra Mile.” On the back of a truck I see quite often here in town is the message:
“IF YOU MEAN TO PROFIT, LEARN TO PLEASE.”
THE BIBLE SAYS in Philippians 4:6: “Don’t worry about anything, instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done.” (New Living Translation)
“CAST ALL YOUR ANXIETY ON HIM BECAUSE HE CARES FOR YOU.” – First Peter 5:7
“DO ONE THING THAT MAKES YOU HAPPY EVERY DAY,” said the placard I saw in a shop at MANGONUI today. Some things we do make us happy and some things we do make us unhappy.
Today I did one thing that made me really unhappy and one thing that made me really happy. Let me tell you about it.
For lunch I bought some dry buns, because I felt like eating buns. There were three in the packet. Not much of the third bun was left in my hand, when a dog was after me wanting what was left. Although the owner of the dog yelled at the dog, the dog did not listen. Eventually I threw the remains of the precious bun to the dog. The owner of the pet was very apologetic. All that made me very unhappy.
But I did also one thing today that made me very happy. Two people, one standing and one sitting on a chair, were on the wharf at Mangonui fishing. When talking to them, I told them also what the Lord Jesus Christ has done for me. We had quite a long conversation.
But I don’t think I do deliberately things that make me unhappy.
