TRAINING CHILDREN

werner-150x150-e1367980712224I did not know about the different philosophies used today to teach and train children.

There is the RIE philosophy for infants.

What is this philosophy all about?

The philosophy is based on respect. That means that even the youngest infant is a unique human being. The infant is not an object.

There is the Reggio Emilia philosophy for the children who are over two years of age.

That philosophy follows an emergent curriculum. It is based on the child and the interests of the child. And they direct the topics for learning.

Once more, I did no know about the different  philosophies until learning about them today, but I have known from earliest childhood what the Bible says about teaching and training children. Please read Deuteronomy 11:18,19!

The Bible says to teach the Words of the Lord to children. And the Bible says also: “Train a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not turn from it.” – Proverbs 22:6

“Gravity Coffee”

Plunger

Plunger

“Don’t fall for anything else,” is written on the box.

The box is now empty, but when it was full, it contained a plunger

But there is more writing on it: “At Gravity we eat, sleep and breathe coffee. It’s fair to say, it’s our reason for being.”

Reading that I am asking myself, “What do I eat, sleep and breathe, and what is my reason for being?”

What do I stand for?

“If we don’t stand for something, we’ll fall for anything!”
