THE QUIET TIME

What I read not long ago in the book Hungry for God about “The Quiet Time” (Private Devotions)  encouraged me greatly.

I know how I spend my private devotions, and you know what you do in your quiet time.

“It is the united witness from all Christians from all centuries that personal prayer should be supported by regularly reading the scriptures and other books that reveal something of God and give us the desire to know and love him more,” writes Ralph Martin in his book Hungry for God.

And here is the summary:

a. Personal Prayer

b. Reading the Bible regularly

c. Reading of Devotional Treasuries

I am reading the Bible regularly and I am reading Devotional Treasuries, but I know when it comes to Personal Prayer I could be more diligently.

HOLINESS

Hebrews 12:14: “Without holiness no one will see the Lord.”

a. Philippians 1:1

By virtue of being “in Christ Jesus” Christians are “saints” according to Paul.

b. First Corinthians 1:2

Those called to be saints are “sanctified in Christ Jesus.”

c. Acts 9:13; 20:10

“Saints” and “Christians” are made the same thing.

Christians = saints = sanctified = holy people

EASTER EGGS

It’s all about NEW LIFE, easter eggs celebrate NEW LIFE. That is the message.

There is SIN in this world. There is DEATH in this world. (Romans 6:23)

Eggs for EASTER

Eggs for EASTER

But death is defeated. The Lord Jesus Christ defeated death. He did that by dying on the cross for us and rising from the dead. That’s how much he loves us.

But that is not all.

FORGIVENESS is offered to us. (First John 1:9) ETERNAL LIFE is offered to us.

But we must trust the Lord Jesus Christ. We must follow him.

What is the message? The Lord Jesus Christ offers us all NEW LIFE.
