A new approach to tackle family violence is tried in Christchurch / New Zealand and if it works the pilot will be applied nationally. (“Moves to tackle family violence”, Northern Advocate, Saturday, July 2, 2016)
Weekly there are about 175 cases of family violence reported in Christchurch. Nationwide there are roughly 66,000 children each year at family violence incidents attended by police.
An inter-agency team in Christchurch will respond and assess each case. The inter-agency team consists of staff from police, Child Youth and Family, Corrections, the Ministry of Health, NGO’s and Maori service providers.
If the pilot programme works, needs to be seen. But we have seen already what has been working in the past and what is now working, and that is coming back to the BIBLE as individuals and as a nation.
