THE NUMBERPLATE

“NTHWAY

THE ONLY WAY”,

it says on the numberplate. Again I saw the car with that numberplate today in front  of one of the many garages here in Kaitaia on my way to the shops.

I am sure it means that the way up north is the only way.

Bible readers, and I am a reader of the Scriptures, remember straight away that the Lord Jesus Christ says, that he is the only way to God the Father.

In John 14:6 the Lord Jesus Christ says that he is not only the WAY, but that he is also the TRUTH and the LIFE. He says also:

“NO ONE COMES TO THE FATHER EXCEPT THROUGH ME.”

 1. The Lord Jesus Christ does not show us the way – he is not a signpost – he is “the Way”. – If we do not go “the way”, we are going astray and ruining ourselves.

2. The Lord Jesus Christ is not a teacher of the truth, he is “the truth”. – If we do not have the Lord Jesus Christ we remain in error and falsehood.

3. The Lord Jesus Christ is not a leader to life, he is “the Life”. – If we have the Lord Jesus Christ, we have eternal life.

I hope, I see the car with that numberplate  again and again to be reminded that the Lord Jesus Christ is the only way to God the Father. Jesus is the way because he is both God and man.

ASSUMING

We are assuming too much at times when talking to people, especially when it comes to special subjects. (Talking about the weather is alright.)

I noticed that this morning, when talking to someone about the football game yesterday, EURO 2016, when Germany was beaten by France 2:0!

I mentioned the penalty in the first half of the game and the replacing of a German player in the second half because of injury.

Something like, I don’t really know what you are talking about, I was told when I was just about finished with what I had to say; and I was speaking english.

Apparently the person I was talking to did not know the ABC of football. (I grew up with football in Germany.)

The LESSON again:

When talking to someone about the Gospel, assume that it is a “special subject”  for your listener. Sooner or later you will find out whether you are right or wrong.
