“LONGER LIVES” in the NEWS

“Reading helps people lead longer lives” and “Readers booking in for longer life.”

At the present time I am finding those two articles in our papers, one in The New Zealand Herald and the other in one of our local papers. (Northern News)

Which countries read now the most books? What do you think? What a surprise it was for me to find out that INDIA comes first, THAILAND comes second and CHINA comes third. That is by the World Culture Index.

I am especially interested in Thailand. I worked there as a missionary for 13 years.

There is no doubt that people are interested in living long lives on this earth. But hang on, life on planet earth is not all, there is more.

The real ‘GOOD NEWS’ is that being an avid reader of the Bible and believing what the Bible says does not only helps us to lead longer lives in this world, but helps us to enter eternal life.

How much do you read the Bible?

Please let me know!

THUMBS

UP

To one of our neighbours, who took us to the  bus stop one morning on short notice lately, because I could not get hold of the taxi driver in spite of telling him beforehand.

Let us be thankful for good neighbours.

THUMBS UP

To the bus driver  who dropped us off not far from our place and the lady who spotted us soon after that with our luggage and drove us right to the front door of our house. Kindness of strangers.

“Love is kind,” it says in First Corinthians 13:4

“UP TO $750 CASH”

WAR CRY GIVEAWAY

To win a copy of Unashamed tell us what ‘shame’ means to you.

Not long ago I saw in Auckland the following “Payday Advance” advertisement:

“Up to $750 cash

When the boss won’t help, we can !”

I only noticed the ad after I had taken the picture. “What an offer!” I am thinking now , while ,looking at the picture – but that is certainly not for me.

I would actually be ashamed to ask for my pay before payday.

Arriving back in Kaitaia I found the following verse from the Bible in our local paper: “Keep your lives free from the love of money and be content with what you have, because God has said, ‘Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you.'” You find that verse in Hebrews 13:5. Read also First Corinthians 13:4 and Romans 13:8.
