“Stop cutting it short”

“Stop cutting it short,” it says in the personalized letter I received today from Spark

Between 7pm on a Friday and 7am Monday morning I can call any New Zealand landline as much as I like for $4 per month. That is good news.

But there is even more really good news. We find that good news in the Bible

At the beginning of Psalm 105 we are told to call on the name of the LORD, to give thanks to him and to make known among the nations what he has done.

In Psalm 116 in verse 13 the Psalmist says that he will call on the name of the LORD and lift up the cup of salvation. In the same Psalm in verse 17 the Psalmist says that he will call on the name of the LORD, and that he will sacrifice a thank offering to the LORD.

In Psalm 145 David says that the LORD is near to all who call on him. But we must call on him in truth. You find all that in verse 18.

Are we cutting it short, when we are calling on the Lord? We have all reason not to cut it short. Calling on the Lord is free and we can call on him at any time. He has always time for us.
