This morning I came again across the answer to a most important question, actually for me one of the most important questions. I have asked that question for a long time and I am asking that question again and again.

It is my custom to read the devotional treasury by C. H. Spurgeon called MORNING AND EVENING. This morning I am reading again, “Why is it that some Christians, although they hear many sermons make such slow advances in the divine life?”

What is the answer? C. H. Spurgeon answers his own question: “Because they neglect their times of prayer, and do not thoughtfully meditate on God’s Word.”

Do I neglect my time of prayer and do I not thoughtfully meditate on God’s Word? That are the two questions I am asking myself. And why do I ask the two questions? Because I want to make progress in my spiritual life.
