About repealing the “anti – smacking law” in this country, about restoring parents’ right to smack their children, I am reading in the paper. (The Northland Age, Thursday, April 6, 2017)

The reason for that is that the “anti – smacking law did not work.

Let us see what the Bible says about disciplining children:

The Bible commands us to discipline our sons. Proverbs 19:18

If we discipline our sons, they will give us peace and bring delight to us. Proverbs 29:17

We are also told that we hate our sons, if we spare the rod. Please read Proverbs 13:24

The Bible teaches also that the rod of discipline will drive folly far from the heart of a child. Proverbs 22:15.

Punishing a child with the rod will not cause his death, but will save his soul from death we read in Proverbs 23:13,14

“The rod of correction imparts wisdom, but a child left to himself disgraces his mother,” says the Bible in Proverbs 29:15

The fact is that the “anti – smacking law” had seen greater violence towards children, I am reading in the article called “Return to smacking.”

“Secrets of success,” it says on the front cover of the Franchise New Zealand magazine Summer 2017, and I am immediately interested.

And who does not want to be successful? The article deals with the question how to choose a quality franchise, how to choose a good franchise.

I notice that the words “success” and “successful” occur quite often in the above mentioned magazine.

SUCCESS

But that is not the only place where we read about success; there are many more.

In fact you find quite a number of posts on success on this blog.

THE BIBLE TELLS US ALSO HOW TO BE SUCCESSFUL:

We must be obedient to what the BIBLE says.

• We must not turn from the Bible to the right or to the left.
• The Bible must not depart from our mouth.
• We must meditate on the Bible day and night.

You find that in the book of Joshua 1:7,8. (Read also First Chronicles 22:13)

The founder of the Salvation Army was once asked for the secret of his success, and this is what he said:

We must not only preach about the LOVE of God, but also about the WRATH of God. When did you hear the last sermon about the WRATH of God?

We must preach the FULL GOSPEL!

In fact we cannot even really understand the LOVE of God, unless we understand that we are “sinners in the hands of an angry God.”
