In his reply the Lord talks to Nicodemus about the greatest miracle, the new birth.

WHAT IS THE NEW BIRTH?

The new birth is the transformation of the life of a person caused by God the Holy Spirit.

The Mission of the Salvation Army is: “Caring for People, TRANSFORMING Lives and Reforming Society by God’s Power.”

The transformation is a complete change in spiritual condition.

When does it take place? It takes place when we respond to divine grace and when we enter into fellowship with God through our Lord Jesus Christ. The response is by faith in the Lord Jesus Christ.

What does God the Holy Spirit do? He gives the sinner the gift of faith. He gives the power of a new spiritual life. We die to sin through faith in Christ. We rise to a new life through faith in Christ.

Romans 6:1-11, Second Corinthians 5:17 and Galatians 2:20.

WHAT IS A MIRACLE?

There are events affected by the normal operations of the known laws of nature. That are not miracles of course. Miracles are affected directly by God, as the NEW BIRTH.
