“WHAT WORDS COME TO MIND …?”

the Salvation Army in Kaitaia

What words come to mind when our brothers and sisters in the Lord  and other people think of us?

That question came to me when I read in a Salvation Army publication “WHAT WORDS COME TO MIND WHEN OUR SUPPORTERS THINK OF THE SALVATION ARMY IN NEW ZEALAND?”

What are the supporters thinking?

Thirteen words are mentioned and the following are standing out: “LOVE, HOPE, SUPPORT and KIND.”

And what words should come to mind when other people think of us? Here they are: He or she is patient. He or she is kind, does not envy, does not boast, is not proud, is not self-seeking, and the list goes on …

Please read First Corinthians 13:4-8.

Golden Nugget

A beautiful flower.

“The LORD will roar from Zion and thunder from Jerusalem; the earth and the sky will tremble. But the LORD will be a refuge for his people, a stronghold for the people of Israel.” – Joel 3:16

MY ANCESTORS

What were the beliefs of your ancestors? is one of the questions I am really interested in.

I am finding the question among others on the flyer I was given when attending a course with the title DNA & FAMILY HISTORY WORKSHOP not long ago here in Kaitaia. The leaflet is produced by the New Zealand Society of Genealogists Inc. – Far North Branch.

Other questions are: WHERE DID THEY COME FROM? WHERE DID THEY MOVE TO? WHAT DID THEY DO? HOW DID THEY LIVE?

That are all very good questions, and I wish that I would know the answers.

Now, what did my family believe? I hardly know anything. But I know that my mother was a Bible-believing Christian, and from what I remember hearing the same was true of the father of my mother, my grandfather.

As you can see I hardly know anything, but I am glad to know what I know. I am also a believer in the Lord Jesus Christ.

Sermon Outline – OT – NIV

The Cross

“‘Now then,

Amos 2:13-16

Introduction:
I will crush you as a cart crushes when loaded with grain.

  1.  The swift will not escape,
  2. the strong will not muster their strength, and
  3. the warrior will not save his life.
  4. The archer will not stand his ground,
  5. the fleet-footed soldier will not get away, and
  6. the horseman will not save his life.
  7. Even the bravest warriors will flee naked on that day,’

End:

declares the LORD.”

WHO AM I?

I am finding that question on one of the pages of the pamphlet I was given when attending a workshop of the New Zealand Society of Genealogists.

Have you ever asked that question?. I never have, but I know who I am.

ONCE I was darkness, but NOW I am light in the Lord.

WHO AM I?

  1.  I am a child of God.
  2. I am an heir of God.
  3. I am a new creation.
  4. I am a servant of God.
  5. I am reconciled with God.
  6. I am accepted in the beloved.
  7. I am baptized into Christ’s body.
  8. I am elected.

And much more!!

In Ephesians 5:8 the Apostle Paul is writing:

“For you were once darkness, but now you are the light in the Lord. Live as children of light.”

My question when I was in my teens was: WHAT IS THE MEANING TO LIFE?
