IGNORING ISSUES

I am reading about someone who used to watch TV for six hours a day to ignore the issues in his life.

“An anxious heart weighs a man down.” – Proverbs 12:25

Are you not also wondering with me for how long anybody can ignore the troubles in his life before they walk all over him?

People who ignore the issues in their lives need help. There is no doubt about that. And help for our anxieties is available.

First Peter 5:7 says: “CAST ALL YOUR ANXIETY ON HIM BECAUSE HE CARES FOR YOU.”

In Philippians 4:6 we read: “DO NOT BE ANXIOUS ABOUT ANYTHING, BUT IN EVERYTHING, BY PRAYER AND PETITION, WITH THANKSGIVING, PRESENT YOUR REQUEST TO GOD.”

Let us remember also  that “An anxious heart weighs a man down.” (Proverbs 12:25)

I like what Ellen Glasgow says: “I am not going to lie down and let trouble walk over me.”

Golden Nugget

I like this flower.

“‘WHOEVER BELIEVES IN THE SON HAS ETERNAL LIFE, BUT WHOEVER REJECTS THE SON WILL NOT SEE LIFE, FOR GOD’S WRATH REMAINS ON HIM.'” – John 3:36

We are hearing a lot about the Love of God, but do we realise that the wrath of God remains on us, if we do not believe?

FOOD

“‘THE DAYS ARE COMING’, DECLARES THE SOVEREIGN LORD, ‘WHEN I WILL SEND A FAMINE THROUGHOUT THE LAND – NOT A FAMINE OF FOOD OR A THIRST FOR WATER, BUT A FAMINE OF HEARING THE WORD OF THE LORD.'” – Amos 8:11

“the Word of the LORD.”

“WHAT WORDS COME TO MIND …?”

the Salvation Army in Kaitaia

What words come to mind when our brothers and sisters in the Lord  and other people think of us?

That question came to me when I read in a Salvation Army publication “WHAT WORDS COME TO MIND WHEN OUR SUPPORTERS THINK OF THE SALVATION ARMY IN NEW ZEALAND?”

What are the supporters thinking?

Thirteen words are mentioned and the following are standing out: “LOVE, HOPE, SUPPORT and KIND.”

And what words should come to mind when other people think of us? Here they are: He or she is patient. He or she is kind, does not envy, does not boast, is not proud, is not self-seeking, and the list goes on …

Please read First Corinthians 13:4-8.

A beautiful flower.

“The LORD will roar from Zion and thunder from Jerusalem; the earth and the sky will tremble. But the LORD will be a refuge for his people, a stronghold for the people of Israel.” – Joel 3:16

MY ANCESTORS

Far North Branch NZSG

What were the beliefs of your ancestors? is one of the questions I am really interested in.

I am finding the question among others on the flyer I was given when attending a course with the title DNA & FAMILY HISTORY WORKSHOP not long ago here in Kaitaia. The leaflet is produced by the New Zealand Society of Genealogists Inc. – Far North Branch.

Other questions are: WHERE DID THEY COME FROM? WHERE DID THEY MOVE TO? WHAT DID THEY DO? HOW DID THEY LIVE?

That are all very good questions, and I wish that I would know the answers.

Now, what did my family believe? I hardly know anything. But I know that my mother was a Bible-believing Christian, and from what I remember hearing the same was true of the father of my mother, my grandfather.

As you can see I hardly know anything, but I am glad to know what I know. I am also a believer in the Lord Jesus Christ.
