FATHER’S DAY
SUNDAY 3RD SEPTEMBER 2017

“HE WHO YIELDS A POINT OR TWO TO THE WORLD IS IN FEARFUL PERIL; HE WHO EATS THE GRAPES OF SODOM WILL SOON DRINK THE WINE OF GOMORRAH.” – C. H. Spurgeon
“Seize the day,” said the sign I saw some time ago. And that’s what I did yesterday, because it promised to be a beautiful day, although there was a heavy fog when I started my journey to Mangonui with the Far North Link bus service.
The distance from Kaitaia to Mangonui is about 40 km and the Far North Link bus service is free for those who have reached a certain age. And it turned out to be a magnificent day as you can see on the photos..
In the Bible we don’t only find prophecies concerning the First Coming of the Lord Jesus Christ to this earth, but also prophecies concerning his Second Coming to this earth.
The book of Isaiah is rich in prophecies concerning the Lord’s First Coming. These prophecies were given hundreds of years before the actual coming of the Lord.
Isaiah 9:6 is typical of a prophecy of the Lord’s First Coming.
“FOR UNTO US A CHILD IS BORN,
Isaiah 9:6
Intr.:
to us a son is given,
1. and the government will be on his shoulders.
2. And he will be called
a. WONDERFUL,
b. COUNSELOR,
c. MIGHTY GOD,
d. EVERLASTING FATHER,
e. PRINCE OF PEACE.
End:
Of the increase of his government and peace there will be no end.”
We are encouraged to meditate on the Bible day and night. The Lord is called: WONDERFUL, COUNSELOR, MIGHTY GOD, EVERLASTING FATHER, PRINCE OF PEACE.
What do the names mean to us personally? Let us meditate on those names.
Just as the prophecies concerning the First Coming of our Lord Jesus Christ to this earth have been fulfilled, so the prophecies concerning the Second Coming of our Lord to this earth will also be fulfilled.
ELECTIONS are approaching, not only here in New Zealand, but also in Germany.
What kind of attitude should a follower of the Lord Jesus Christ have towards politics? That question is very relevant at the present time.
Children of God go to the BIBLE to find answers to their questions.
The BIBLE teaches in Jeremiah 29:7:
“ALSO SEEK THE PEACE AND PROSPERITY OF THE CITY TO WHICH I HAVE CARRIED YOU INTO EXILE. PRAY TO THE LORD FOR IT, BECAUSE IF IT PROSPERS, YOU WILL PROSPER.”
Those Israelites carried into exile from Jerusalem to BABYLON were commanded to do three things:
If the Lord commanded ISRAEL to seek the best for the hostile town BABYLON how much more must we seek the best for the country in which we live.
Jeremiah 29:7 can teach us the right attitude a true follower of the Lord Jesu Christ should have towards politics.
