FOOD, Physical – Spiritual

There is physical food and there is spiritual food.

It went on for a long time, but I want to make it as brief as possible as I can.

Sitting in one of the restaurants here in town, I noticed someone buying two cakes, one for himself and one for  his mate. Eating one of the cakes, he urged his friend to take the other one. But his mate indicated that he had eaten enough and did not need any more. All the urging did not help until finally the buyer of the cakes broke the other one in half, ate one half of it and the other half was put into a paper bag to be taken home.

All the urging to eat the delicious cake did not help and I was thinking to myself, “How persistent  are we when we tell others about spiritual food?”

Oswald Chamber writes today (29.09) in his devotional treasury MY UTMOST FOR HIS HIGHEST about the verse in First Corinthians 9:16, where it says, “Yet when I preach the Gospel, I cannot boast, for I am compelled to preach. Woe to me if I do not preach the Gospel!”

The Lord Jesus Christ says: “I AM THE BREAD OF LIFE.” – John 6:48

And in First Corinthians 9:19 we read: “Though I am free and belong to no man, I make myself a slave to everyone to win as many as possible.”

The Lord Jesus Christ is the Bread of Life. (John 6:48) And in  Deuteronomy 8:3 it says, “…, to teach you that man does not live on bread alone but on every word that comes from the mouth of the LORD.” Read also Matthew 4:4.
