DAVID AND GOLIATH

Twice I am reading lately about David and Goliath in our local paper, The Northland Age. I am wondering if I should be surprised or not?

An editorial begins like this: “It’s been dubbed a David versus Goliath battle, but I’m not sure this one will have the same outcome as the Biblical version.”

Reading that makes me look up the story of David and Goliath in the Bible. We find the story in the Old Testament, in First Samuel chapter seventeen.

SHEEP: David was a shepherd.

In 1 Samuel 17:45 we are reading about a “sword and spear and javelin”. But we are reading also about ” the name of the LORD Almighty”.

“David said to the Philistine, ‘You come against me with sword and spear and javelin, but I come against you in the name of God Almighty, the God of the armies of Israel, whom you have defied.'” Read also the next verse or better still the whole chapter.

Now I am asking myself also, “How many people know the story about David and Goliath? And how many people know where to find the story in the Bible?

But at the same time I am asking myself also, “What actually is my knowledge of the Bible?”

HAVE YOU EVER ASKED YOU THAT MOST IMPORTANT QUESTION?
