“‘IF ANYONE IS ASHAMED OF ME AND MY WORDS IN THIS ADULTEROUS AND SINFUL GENERATION, THE SON OF MAN WILL BE ASHAMED OF HIM WHEN HE COMES IN HIS FATHER’S GLORY WITH THE HOLY ANGELS.'” – Mark 8:38

POWER OUTAGE COMING SUNDAY

POWER: How dependent we are on power.

And coming Sunday is not our first power outage.

“POWER OUTAGE” says the public notice in our local paper.

“KAITAIA & DISTRICT, SUNDAY 19 NOVEMBER 2017 – 8AM TO PM”

The backup date is November 26 from 8am, if work can’t go ahead, due to weather or other circumstances.

Because we have had power cuts before, there are already quite a number of “Power Outage” posts on this blog. You can read the posts by writing “Power Outage” into SEARCH!

And I believe that the power outage coming Sunday will not be the last one in our area.

THE POWER OF KINDNESS

“NO ACT OF KINDNESS, NO MATTER HOW SMALL, IS EVER WASTED,” is written on a bench. Everybody who is sitting down on the bench is bound to see the writing in big letters.. (You can see a picture of the bench in one of our papers, NORTHERN NEWS, Wednesday, November 15, 2017.)

What does it now mean to be kind? It means to be considerate, It means to be friendly. It means to be helpful.

An act of kindness has not only an effect on the person receiving the kindness, but also on the kind person.

THE ACT OF KINDNESS EFFECTS THE PERSON WHO IS RECEIVING THE KINDNESS.

In Proverbs 25:21,22 the Bible says:

SMOKE: There are also “burning coals”.

“If your enemy is hungry, give him food to eat; if he is thirsty, give him water to drink. In doing so you will heap burning coals on his head, and the LORD will reward you. (Romans 12:20)

THE ACT OF KINDNESS EFFECTS THE PERSON WHO IS KIND.

In Proverbs 11:25 the Bible says:

“He who refreshes others will himself be refreshed.”

An act of kindness is not only not ever wasted, but the Bible commands us to do acts of kindness. Read Ephesians 4:32, “BE KIND AND COMPASSIONATE TO ONE ANOTHER, FORGIVING EACH OTHER, JUST AS IN CHRIST GOD FORGAVE YOU.” (Colossians 3:12)

“NOBODY CARES”

Is there really nobody who cares?

“Nobody cares,” was written in the back of the car, I saw this morning.

There was also a picture of a family  fleeing from some kind of a monster carrying a big stick.

The father of the family is in front pushing a pram without the baby. The baby has fallen out of the baby carriage. The mother is right behind the father and the other children are hurrying after her.

Reading “Nobody cares” and seeing the picture reminds me of the verse in the Bible, where it says in First Peter 5:7:

“CAST ALL YOUR ANXIETY OF HIM BECAUSE HE CARES FOR YOU.”
