WISDOM

In the Bible we are reading of two kinds of wisdom.

There is first of all the wisdom that is given by God. This wisdom views life in terms of eternity.

What does the Bible say about this wisdom?

We are reading about this wisdom in James 3:17 and there it says:

“But the wisdom that comes from heaven is

  1.  first of all pure;
  2. then peace-loving,
  3. considerate,
  4. submissive,
  5. full of mercy and
  6. good fruit,
  7. impartial and
  8. sincere.”

The second kind of wisdom is the “wisdom of the world”. (First Corinthians 1:20)

And this is what the Bible says about this kind of wisdom: We read in First Corinthians 1:19, “‘I will destroy the wisdom of the wise.'”

Are you choosing the wisdom that is given by God, or are you choosing the “wisdom of the world”?

STORMS

“With Christ in the vessel we can smile at the storm.”

Those hymn words came to me not many days ago and even caused joy within me.

STORMS: “With Christ in  the vessel we can smile at the storm.”

There are many storms and maybe you are in one of them just now.

There are Physical storms, when you go to your physician and he tells you what you do not want to hear.

There are Financial storms, when the bills are clashing. Have you ever heard about that? Then you need someone to budget for you.

There are Economic storms when your boss tells you that you are no longer needed.

There are storms caused by the Inland Revenue Department, when you pay tax you are not even supposed to pay, in spite of having done everything to find out what the tax laws are.

There are Personal storms, that are smashing your heart into pieces.

Storms and more storm, but “with Christ in the vessel we can smile at the storm”.

A  long time ago I read the following and it must have been on a Church Sign here in Kaitaia:

“GOD PROMISED A SAFE LANDING, NOT A CALM PASSAGE.”

$32.8 MILLION

Northlanders spent $32.8 million on all forms of gambling last year, including pokie machines and Lotto tickets, up $1.1 million on the previous year, according to Department of Internal Affairs figures.
