WALK “THROUGH THE DARKEST VALLEY”

Image

“Bush walkers safe and well,” it says on the front page of our local paper, The Northland Age. (May 13, 2018)

NOT FAR FROM OUR HOUSE: Sun, clouds and trees.

That “there is no substitute for being prepared,” is the “good advice” a Senior Sergeant is giving.

There are lots of walking tracks here in New Zealand. I walked a short one only last Tuesday in Mangonui.

Five women from the capital (Auckland) went on a long walk on Saturday here in the north of New Zealand. They were on a bush walk in the Mangamukas. But the walk was too much for them. They had to ask for help and be rescued. New Zealand is a very treacherous  country, even for the Kiwis. (People who live here.)

For all of us the walk “through the darkest valley ” is coming sooner or later. The question is: “ARE WE PREPARED?”

Can we say with David:

“Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me.”

Quote

“IT WAS NOT THAT GOD ALLOWED CRUEL MEN TO KILL HIS SON; IT WAS GOD HIMSELF WHO SMOTE HIS SON , AS ABRAHAM HAD BEEN PREPARED TO DO WITH ISAAC.” – D. Martyn-Lloyd-Jones

“They forsook all the commands of the LORD

2 Kings 17:16,17

Intr.:

their God

  1. and made for themselves two idols cast in the shape of calves,
  2. and an Asherah pole.
  3. They bowed down to all the starry hosts,
  4. and they worshiped Baal.
  5. They sacrificed their sons
  6. and daughters in the fire.
  7. They practiced divination
  8. and sorcery
  9. and sold themselves to do evil in the eyes of the LORD,

End:

provoking him to anger.”
