BEING PREPARED

“It has become taboo to mention dying,” says Kathryn Mannix, leading palliative care specialist from the UK.

FLU SHOTS: Prepare for winter.

Today I am reading in my Bible that King David is making preparations for the building of the House of the Lord. He wants the House of the Lord to be great in magnificence, great in fame and great in splendor. In First Chronicles 22:5 it even says that he “made extensive preparations before his death.”

That made me think about a magazine, flyer, I picked up yesterday, I think, at our local pharmacy. “Be prepared for winter,” it says there on the front page. Preparing for winter is having our flu shot.

My thoughts go also backĀ  to the Devotional Treasury “UNTO THE HILLS” by Billy Graham. There he tells the story of a prominent man who said that he was unprepared to die. He prepared for every eventuality, but he did not prepare to die

I don’t belong to the people who don’t mention dying. I am asking you, “Are you ready to die? Are you prepared to die?”
