“WE NEED TO REMEMBER THAT IN GOD’S SIGHT MOTIVATION IS AN INTEGRAL ELEMENT IN ACTION, AND ANY MOTIVATION THAT EXALTS SELF WILL RENDER OUR WORK ROTTEN AT THE CORE.” – J.I. Packer

QUOTE
“WILLIAM TEMPLE SAID SOMEWHERE THAT WHEREAS WE THINK OUR REAL WORK IS OUR ACTIVITY, TO WHICH PRAYER IS AN ADJUNCT, OUR PRAYING IS THE REAL WORK, AND OUR ACTIVITY IS THE INDEX OF HOW WE HAVE DONE IT.” – J.I. Packer
PAIHIA
Image
The name PAIHIA comes from a combination of Maori “pai” and English “here”. When the missionary the Reverend Henry Williams saw the quiet bay he exclaimed “here is a good place.”
Last Saturday, October 27, was the WOMEN CONNECT ANNUAL RETREAT 2018 at the PAIHIA BAPTIST CHURCH.
I caught a ride and spend most of the day at Russell.
When the Reverend Henry Williams said, “here is a good place,” he was actually selecting a locality for a Church Missionary Society Mission Station. (“Here is a good place” for a Church Missionary Society Mission Station.)

RUSSELL MINI TOURS
Yesterday I learned more about Russell. For me the highlight was FLAGSTAFF HILL:
WE ALL NEED TO FISH FOR SOULS
Image
When I saw the fisherman today at Pukenui who caught the fish on the picture, Matthew 4:18,19 came to my mind, where “fishermen” and “fishers of men” are mentioned. I remembered also that all followers of the Lord Jesus Christ need to fish for souls.
It was not difficult to get into a conversation with the fisherman, and I soon learned that he also followed the Lord Jesus Christ and that he also had the desire to acknowledge the Lord Jesus Christ before men. (Matthew 10:32)
What an encouragement.
In Matthew 4:18,19 we read, “They [Simon and Andrew] were casting a net into the lake, for they were fishermen. ‘Come, follow me,’ Jesus said, ‘and I will make you fishers of men.'”
PUKENUI, IN THE FAR NORTH OF NEW ZEALAND
Image
Today I visited PUKENUI again.
“COUNTRY IS NOT JUST A PLACE YOU CAN VISIT, IT’S ALSO SOMETHING YOU CARRY AROUND INSIDE YOU,” is a quote by Greg Lehman, a Trawulwuy descendent.
Thinking about going on a beautiful day in summer from the Ambulance station along the Houhora harbor towards PUKENUI, I know exactly what the writer of the quote means.
Bible verses in our Local Paper
Image
We are getting our local paper twice a week, Tuesday and Thursday, and it is my habit to look first of all what the Bible verse in the paper says.
