WE ALL NEED TO FISH FOR SOULS

When I saw the fisherman today at Pukenui who caught the fish on the picture, Matthew 4:18,19 came to my mind, where “fishermen” and “fishers of men” are mentioned. I remembered also that all followers of the Lord Jesus Christ need to fish for souls.

Fresh John Dory fish straight from the Houhora harbor.

It was not difficult to get into a conversation with the fisherman, and I soon learned that he also followed the Lord Jesus Christ and that he also had the desire to acknowledge the Lord Jesus Christ before men. (Matthew 10:32)

What an encouragement.

In Matthew 4:18,19 we read, “They [Simon and Andrew] were casting a net into the lake, for they were fishermen. ‘Come, follow me,’ Jesus said, ‘and I will make you fishers of men.'”

PUKENUI, IN THE FAR NORTH OF NEW ZEALAND

Today I visited PUKENUI again.

The Houhora harbor is on my right on my walk to Pukenui.

“COUNTRY IS NOT JUST A PLACE YOU CAN VISIT, IT’S ALSO SOMETHING YOU CARRY AROUND INSIDE YOU,” is a quote by Greg Lehman, a Trawulwuy descendent.

Thinking about going on a beautiful day in summer from the Ambulance station along the Houhora harbor towards PUKENUI, I know exactly what the writer of the quote means.
