OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS

Image

When I was pointed today to the operating instructions for the mechanized furniture I was horrified to find out that I did it the wrong way. I was actually sitting on the mechanized chair when the instruction card was handed to me.

As you well know for certain things we buy user’s guides are included and so are important safety instructions. We are also admonished to read all the instructions before using the appliances.

“How to operate this mechanism”

We are not only given a guide book for our mobile phone, but we are also given a guide book for life. The Bible is the guide book to everlasting life

I used to teach the Bible in many schools here in New Zealand, mainly in Kaikohe and in the schools around Kaikohe. I told the children that the Bible is a library of 66 books, and that the Bible is divided into two main sections, namely the Old Testament containing 39 books and the New Testament containing 27 books. Did you know that?

The Bible was written over a period of  1600 years by 36-40 authors. The Holy Spirit, the third Person of the Trinity, is the author of the Bible. The main theme of the Bible is the Lord Jesus Christ. Originally the Old Testament was written in Hebrew and Aramaic. The New Testament was written in Greek

Not using a mechanized chair according to the operation instructions can ruin the chair of course. But not using our lives according to the instructions of the Scriptures has not only consequences for this life but also eternal consequences.

THE CROSS

Image

“The cross of Christ, on which he was extended, points, in the length of it, to heaven and earth, reconciling them together; and in the breadth of it, to former and following ages, as being equally salvation to both.” – Samuel Rutherford

  • THE BLIND RECEIVE SIGHT,

  • THOSE WHO HAVE LEPROSY ARE CURED,
  • THE DEAF HEAR,
  • THE DEAD ARE RAISED, AND
  • THE GOOD NEWS IS PREACHED TO THE POOR.

BLESSED IS THE MAN WHO DOES NOT FALL AWAY ON ACCOUNT OF ME.'”

THROWN AWAY AND TORN

“A FREE OFFER FOR YOU!” was written on the paper, I picked up from the road not far from where we live.

It is not often that I pick up stuff other people have thrown away, but I am glad that I did this time.

The tract I picked up looks like a little booklet, but has only four pages.

On the first page is not only written “A free offer for you!” but also “Gospel news for eternal salvation. “On page two I read about “Forgiveness of sins, The gift of the Holy Spirit and The gift of eternal life.” On page three it says that we must “Repent” (Acts 2:38) and “Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ” (Acts 16:31). And on page four the address of the publisher is given.

I see that someone has not only thrown the tract away but has also torn it.
