WAITING

Today someone was standing in the kitchen and waiting for something to cool down.
A great part of our life is spent waiting for someone or something.
While I am writing this, I am told that there is a long waiting time at our local post office. But that is not surprising before Christmas.
I have been in many waiting rooms, waiting for the doctor, waiting for the dentist and waiting for the nurse, and so have you.
Have you ever waited with all those others for the hairdresser to cut your hair? I have and while waiting for my turn, I have read one of my books from my small library at home.
At times we are waiting for tradesmen to do some work at our place. I cannot really remember how long we waited for our plumber to come and install a new toilet, but it was a long time. There are other plumbers of course, but our plumber does a really good job. It is worthwhile waiting for him.
What are you waiting for right now?
Followers of the Lord Jesus are waiting for the Second Coming of the Lord Jesus Christ. The Bible says in Hebrews 9:28, “…, so Christ was sacrificed once to take away the sins of many people; and he will appear a second time, not to bear sin, but to bring salvation to those who are waiting for him.”
I hope you are not only waiting for all the things mentioned at the beginning, but that you are also waiting for the Second Coming of the Lord Jesus Christ. The Lord Jesus Christ rescues us from the wrath to come (1 Thessalonians 1:10).
