THAILAND (Thailand means ‘Land of the Free’)

Seeing the slender volume THE BOY WHO RAN AWAY (A story from Thailand), together with other books on the floor in our bedroom today, I wondered if it was the story of “The life of Pastor-Musician Samyong Songsan Prasopsin,” (Songs from the heart) I knew from my time as missionary in Thailand from the end of 1966 until the end of 1979?

Thinking about the thirteen years in Thailand, I have to depend on my memory unfortunately, because I am really not good at all when it comes to keeping letters and so on.*

The special meetings in TAK / Thailand for three provinces are coming to my mind, especially for young people with Thai guest speakers.

Also in TAK we had at least one Christmas meeting together with the tribal people who did not live far away.

The church at TAK did not only have a church building, but also a separate building for cooking the meals.

From SALOGBAD, another place, where we used to work, I remember our trips on the motorbike with loudspeakers mounted on the back of the bike and loaded with literature into the surrounding villages.

Also in SALOGBAD the termites got into our books from the Bible Society. What a shame.

And yes, it was the story of “The life of Pastor-Musician Samyong Songsan Prasopsin.” THE BOY WHO RAN AWAY is written for children and the book SONGS FROM THE HEART is written for adults.

We had Samyong, as he was called, as guest speaker, when we had those special meetings in TAK / Thailand.

*I can only say keep a diary, and hang on to it.

“My people come to you, as they usually do, and sit before you to listen to your words, but they do not put them into practice. With their mouths they express devotion, but their hearts are greedy for unjust gain.” – Ezekiel 33:31
