CHRISTMAS
Quote
“HE [PAUL] LEARNED TO LIVE ABOVE HIS CIRCUMSTANCES – EVEN IN A PRISON CELL. YOU CAN DO THE SAME.” – Billy Graham
“WE ARE OFF ON A MIGHTY QUEST …”
I hope we are not only “off on a mighty quest” in a WORLDLY way, but also in a SPIRITUAL way.
I love travelling and I was always interested in geography. At one time I could name all the countries of South America including the capitals from memory.
In the school I attended in the north of Germany we had a small library. I love also reading, but I think the reason why I read the books about foreign countries was, that I wanted to go there.
I think I can say that I started “off on a mighty quest” in a worldly way, at least theoretically, in my early teens. But in my late teens I started “off on a mighty quest” in a spiritual way.
In Job 11:7 we find the question: “Canst thou by searching find out God?” (King James Version)
What is the answer to that question?
In Jeremiah 29:13 we read, “And ye shall seek me, and find me, when ye shall search for me with all your heart.” (King James Version)
Read also John 11:6; 5,39 and 7:17.
In John 17:3 it says, “Now this is eternal life: that they may know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom you have sent.” (NIV)
When I was eighteen years of age I had a second birthday and passed from darkness to light. In John 3:3 the Lord Jesus Christ said to Nicodemus: “‘I tell you the truth, no one can see the kingdom of God unless he is born again.'” (NIV)
Being “off on a mighty quest” in a spiritual way, reading books written by missionaries and the Bible, I read The Great Commission in Matthew at the end of chapter 28, where it says, “‘All authority in heaven and on earth has been given me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, …'” (NIV)
As you can well imagine having been a missionary in Thailand and New Zealand from Germany, involved quite a bit of travelling. So I can say that being “off on a mighty quest” in a spiritual way involved also being “off on a mighty quest” in a worldly way, practically. I am also reminded of Psalm 37:4. There we read, “Delight yourself in the LORD, and he will give you the desires of your heart.” (NIV)
