“‘My Doctor says I have 30 years to live………
…….my Advisor says I have 20 years to live'”.
You cannot miss seeing the big advertisement in the local paper today. (Northern News, November 3, 2010, page 7.) It is all about “Successful Investing For A New Decade”.
We read what the Doctor says. We read what the Advisor says.
But what does the Bible, the Word of the Living God say?
Proverbs 27:1 “Do not boast about tomorrow, for you do not know what a day may bring forth.”
Psalm 90:10 “The length of our days is seventy years- or eighty, if we have the strength;…..”
Ecclesiastes 8:8 “….; so no one has power over the day of his death.”
The BIBLE says also in Romans 6:23
“FOR THE WAGES OF SIN IS DEATH,
BUT THE GIFT OF GOD IS ETERNAL LIFE IN CHRIST JESUS OUR LORD.”
“The wages of sin is death”. That is the first part of the verse.
DEATH is a powerful preacher. We cannot get away from death. Every day we are reading about death in the papers. Just now I am looking a the “Death Notices Index”.
“The gift of God is eternal life.” That is the second part of the verse.
How do I like that. I like to receive gifts. I think everybody does. The gift of eternal life is through Christ Jesus our Lord. Praise the Lord for the gift of eternal life!
I have received the gift. I have believed in the Lord Jesus Christ many years ago. I know that I am saved. Acts 16:31 I trust in the Lord Jesus Christ now. John 14:1
In the same paper mentioned above I am also reading about relationships. A Far North District Council Councillor is writing about relationships: “…..the most important relationship any politician can have is that with the people they represent.”
I write that the most important relationship anybody can and must have is the relationship with the Living God. Praise God for the relationship with HIM!
In the paper mentioned at the beginning is also a St John advertisement. It says “Only St John medical alarms connect directly to St John and are installed by uniformed St John Staff.” The ad starts with “YOU CAN TRUST ST JOHN”.
In John 14:1 the Lord Jesus Christ comforts us with these words: “Trust in God; Trust also in me.”
Have you trusted in the Lord Jesus Christ? Have you believed in the Lord Jesus Christ?
There is another ad in the paper mentioned already several time. In very big letters it says:
“GET YOUR FUTURE STARTED!”
Yes, get your FUTURE started by believing and trusting in the Lord Jesus Christ!
