TRUST (Personal Evangelism 25. 10. 2008)

I was sitting on the bench in front of the Warehouse and said to the Maori lady standing near the shopping trolleys near by, “The rain is coming from the wrong direction and I am even getting wet today on this bench.” Then I asked her, ” Have you ever noticed the cone on top of the Norfolk pine over there?” She had not and we got talking about the mischief some young people are getting up to. “I have just read the paper,” I continued the conversation. “There is a lot of talk about TRUST in the newspaper before election and today……” And then her cell phone rang and she had to attend to that.

I remained seated, drinking from my water bottle until her phone call was finished. I continued our interrupted conversation by saying, ” Trust in leadership seems to be more important to people than anything else. And so it should be. (Do your trust your dentist? Do you trust your Doctor?) BUT I AM GLAD THAT I AM TRUSTING IN THE LORD JESUS CHRIST! (John 14:1) He is my personal Saviour and I am reading the Bible.” So far as I remember she is not going to Church, but she is reading the King James Bible. She said also, that she believes in the Lord Jesus Christ, but most people don’t.

She asked me, ” Do you believe in the Trinity?” “Yes,” was my reply, ” we don’t find the word Trinity as such in the Bible and nobody can explain the Trinity satisfactorily, but we find the Trinity definitely in the Word of God.”

We said good bye by giving praise to the Lord Jesus Christ!
