“Literacy is the key to understanding,” I am reading on a LITERACY AOTEAROA INC. poster.

Not long ago I came to Psalm 41 in my reading of the Bible from cover to cover and it came to me that the first three verses of Psalm 41 are actually a very good sermon outline. In order to find out what the Holy Spirit has taught other servants of the Lord about the first verses of the Psalm, I looked up some devotional books.

Not neglecting my commentaries on the Bible I came to the Concise Commentary on the Whole Bible by Matthew Henry and Thomas Scott. But it was really disappointing to find out that the Psalms had Roman numerals. I am somewhat familiar with Roman numerals, but I like Arabic numerals better. Fortunately we have many books in our house and in one I find  the Roman numerals. (Pears Cyclopaedia   78th Edition)
