His kit was packed every morning. He was in cheerful anticipation. His cheerfulness was infectious. He was always hopeful. Whenever there was no ice on the water, he rolled up his sleeping bag. He told everybody else to do the same. He expected the boss, Ernest Shackleton, to rescue him and his men any day.
All that was said about the man, who was the leader of 21 men who were stranded on Elephant Island in the Antarctic and expected that the rescue would take place in August.
I am reading that in the book SOUTH by Ernest Shackleton, in my edition on page 242.
I have been a follower of the Lord Jesus Christ now for a long time and reading all that reminds me of The Second Coming of the Lord Jesus Christ.
We are reading about the prophecies of Christ’s Second Coming in the Bible, also about the purpose of Christ’s Coming, how He is Coming, where He is coming to, the manner of His Coming, and the signs of His Coming.
But we are not told the TIME of His Coming.
Only the Lord knows the time and it is a secret. Matthew 24:36 says, “‘But of that day and hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels in heaven, but My Father only.'”
We remember what was said about the man, who was the leader of the men stranded on Elephant Island.
I am a follower of the Lord Jesus Christ and what is said about me? Do people say, “That man is watching every day for the Second Coming of the Lord in cheerful anticipation? That man is waiting attentively every day for the Second Coming of the Lord Jesus Christ and is infecting others?
“‘Therefore keep watch, because you do not know on what day your Lord will come,'” says our Lord Jesus Christ in Matthew 24:42.
