What I read not long ago in the book Hungry for God about “The Quiet Time” (Private Devotions) encouraged me greatly.
I know how I spend my private devotions, and you know what you do in your quiet time.
“It is the united witness from all Christians from all centuries that personal prayer should be supported by regularly reading the scriptures and other books that reveal something of God and give us the desire to know and love him more,” writes Ralph Martin in his book Hungry for God.
And here is the summary:
a. Personal Prayer
b. Reading the Bible regularly
c. Reading of Devotional Treasuries
I am reading the Bible regularly and I am reading Devotional Treasuries, but I know when it comes to Personal Prayer I could be more diligently.
