Recognizing the young person on the picture in our local paper yesterday, (The Northland Age, Thursday, May 5, 2016), who died in a two-car crash made me understand better the title of the slender volume called “You never meet anyone by chance,” written by Ernie Klassen.
“YOU NEVER MEET ANYONE BY CHANCE.
In Matthew 10:32 the Lord Jesus Christ says, “‘Whoever acknowledges me before men, I will also acknowledge him before my Father in heaven.'” (NIV)
The Authorized Version says “confess”.
I have here also the New Testament in Contemporary English and there it says in Matthew 10:32, “If you tell others that you belong to me, I will tell my Father in heaven that you are my followers.” WHAT A PROMISE!
The Collins Concise Dictionary tells me that “belong” means to be the property or possession of someone or to be bound by ties of affection to someone.
“You never meet anyone by chance.”
I have met the person who died in the two-car crash mentioned at the beginning, but I don’t know how clear I was with my confessing of the Lord Jesus Christ. I know I have much to learn in telling others that I belong to the Lord Jesus Christ and what the Lord has done for me.
At the same time the Lord Jesus Christ says also: “‘But whoever disowns me before men, I will also disown him before my Father in heaven.'” You find those words in Matthew 10:33.
“YOU NEVER MEET ANYONE BY CHANCE.”
