“Instead, we should look soberly at what actually works to help criminals rehabilitate and re-enter society better than they did prior to their interaction with the justice and corrections systems,” I am reading in the MAXIM INSTITUTE Column in our local paper. (The Northland Age, Tuesday, May 29, 2018)
Today, New Zealand has a record high prison population. Also within two years of release, more than 50 per cent of people who have completed a prison sentence in this country will reoffend.
What is the answer?
The GOSPEL works. In Romans 1:16 the Apostle Paul says:
“I AM NOT ASHAMED OF THE GOSPEL, BECAUSE IT IS THE POWER OF GOD FOR SALVATION OF EVERYONE WHO BELIEVES: FIRST FOR THE JEW, THEN FOR THE GENTILE.”
The Gospel must be preached.
And I am glad that there are people who are going into the prisons to preach the GOOD NEWS!
