PUKENUI, FAR NORTH, NEW ZEALAND – IN WINTER
I TOOK PART IN A QUIZ AND WON A CONCESSION TICKET WORTH $45.00.
(Five return trips to Pukenui or to Mangonui)
Today I went to PUKENUI.
I went to the PUKENUI SCHOOL and talked to the headmistress. There are 7o children she told me, but there is no BIS (Bible in Schools) at the moment. I remember going into the school in 1981 – 28 years ago – to teach the Bible. Every Wednesday we went to four schools:
Waiharara, Pukenui, Ngataki and Te Kao.
PUKENUI has also a police station. What a surprise to see the word police written three times on the front of the station, in Maori, English of course and GERMAN. There must be a lot of Germans in Pukenui in summer.
